What we know

Over the summer, Lewis County began Kentucky’s Nuclear-Ready Community process, a state program of public education and local readiness. At the public meetings on August 6 and October 3, residents were told Lewis County did not have an active nuclear project. At that time no project had been proposed to the county.

That process did not and does not approve any project. Today The Nuclear Company is making a specific proposal for the first time, and all of it remains open to public study and question.

What we don’t know yet

Whether the Nuclear-Ready designation will be awarded.

Who decides

The Lewis County Fiscal Court and city councils decide local participation. The Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority decides the designation.

How you can take part

Fiscal Court meetings in Vanceburg.
